Freshwater Fish    Catfish    Synodontis

 Synodontis multipunctata

S. multipunctata should be kept in shoals of 4 or more fish.  Wild caught fish from Africa come in at 4" in length although there are reports of fish reaching 12 inches.  Food is not a problem as they will eat any general flake food or sinking pellets.  They will do even better with the addition of some type of frozen or live worm in their diet as well. This is the only known fish that uses brood parasitism.  It lays the eggs where a mouthbrooding cichlid picks them up and then "incubates" them.  Eventually the catfish hatch and eat the cichlid eggs before being released from the mouth.
