Spring is the the time to design and install your backyard pond to maximize your enjoyment throughout the beautiful summer! Most plants are waiting to bloom from June through September. Imagine a whole new area for fish, flowers and maybe even a small waterfall! Come to Blue Fish Aquarium and we can help you design the focal point that is right for you. We have many choices in preformed and flexible liner ponds, as well as many fountains, fish and plants to choose from!
We are Laguna Pond Products dealers with access to many styles of preformed ponds and fountains. We also carry professional grade 45mil Firestone liners! (Don't be fooled by the 20mil liners at DIY stores, you will be replacing those in the next couple years at most!) If you are looking into putting in a pond into your backyard the most important information for you to bring to us is the size of the space you want to use. The space ideally will get 4-6 hours of direct sunlight and not full day exposure. If you want to winter over your fish without bringing them into the garage or house for the winter it is best to have a spot that goes 4' deep in your pond. When calculating the size of the liner needed measure lengthwise and crosswise at the largest points. From there figure out the depth of the pond where you crossed and multiply by 2. Example: Length = 10' and width = 7' with the average depth of 3' 10' + 6' (or 3x2) = 16' 7' + 6' (or 3x2) = 13' However we are still not done yet! We need to add 2' (1' each side) to each total for the overlap we need at the top of the pond that should go under some type of rockwork or decking. With all this said and done we will need a liner that is 18' x 15'
