Passer Angelfish - King Angelfish

Holacanthus passer

The Passer Angelfish is a good candidate for those aquarists who like large fish.  It is a fairly hardy fish that will get some personality in a large aquarium.  It can get a little aggressive at times so there should be care picking its tankmates. Many people will keep large angelfish in reef tanks although it is not usually recommended, this can be done however with some thought.  Angelfish will usually eat clams and SPS corals so care must be taken to assure all the residents will remain happy with the introduction of a large angelfish.  Frozen omnivore diets and good quality pellets should make up the bulk of their diet.  Variation in foods is the key to happy angelfish.
