Chrysurus Angelfish - Ear Spot Angelfish

Pomacanthus chrysurus

The Chrysurus Angelfish is a good candidate for those aquarists who like large fish.  It is a fairly rare fish in the hobby and will get some personality in a large aquarium. This angelfish is from the west coast of Africa and can be distinguished when large from Koran Angelfish and similar fish by its yellow tail when reaching adulthood.   Many people will keep large angelfish in reef tanks although it is not usually recommended, this can be done however with some thought.  Large angelfish will usually eat clams and SPS corals so care must be taken to assure all the residents will remain happy with the introduction of a large angelfish.  Frozen omnivore diets and good quality pellets should make up the bulk of their diet.  Variation in foods is the key to happy angelfish.
