Juvenile Pattern

Emperor Angelfish - Imperator Angelfish

Pomacanthus imperator

The Emperor Angelfish is a good candidate for those aquarists who like large fish. For many aquarists this fish is their Holy Grail as far as the hobby is concerned.   Many people will keep large angelfish in reef tanks although it is not usually recommended, this can be done however with some thought.  Large angelfish will usually eat clams and SPS corals so care must be taken to assure all the residents will remain happy with the introduction of a large angelfish.  The Emperor Angelfish feels much more secure with a lot of rockwork in the aquarium for it to dart in and out of and hide in when it feels anxious.  Frozen omnivore diets and good quality pellets should make up the bulk of their diet.  Variation in foods is the key to happy angelfish.
