Maculosus Angelfish - Yellowbar Angelfish

Pomacanthus maculosus

The Maculosus Angelfish is a good candidate for those aquarists who like large fish.   This angelfish is from the Red Sea and Indian Ocean.  If you obtain a fish from the Red Sea please be sure to have a little higher salinity in your aquarium.   Many people will keep large angelfish in reef tanks although it is not usually recommended, this can be done however with some thought.  Large angelfish will usually eat clams and SPS corals so care must be taken to assure all the residents will remain happy with the introduction of a large angelfish.  Frozen omnivore diets, squid, clams and mussels as well as a good quality pellet should make up the bulk of their diet.  Variation in foods is the key to happy angelfish.
