Yellowtail Damselfish

Chrysiptera parasema

The Yellowtail Damselfish is a fish most often seen in beginner saltwater aquaria.  Because most Damsels are fairly inexpensive and have decent color people want to use these as a starter fish.  Don't be fooled, these little beauties can be moderately aggressive with other tank mates or even you! They are really not a good beginner fish if you plan to keep them with other, more exotic fish.  Once they get a little size and are used to the aquariums they tend to get much more aggressive when it comes to territories.  With that being said as far as damsels go, the Yellowtail damsel is one of the more tolerant damselfish.

Like all omnivores, feed both marine algae and mysis, brineshrimp or plankton.
